Downloading Food Smart Patches

We are committed to keeping Food Smart up to date. In addition to our annual upgrades, we also offer registered users free software patches, containing fixes and minor improvements to issues that we discover or are reported by our customers during each year.

As a registered user, you are eligible to receive software patches three ways:

1.  By downloading the latest patches using our Active Update service.

2.  By downloading and installing the patches manually.

3.  By contacting us directly by phone or email to request the latest patches.

Active Update Service

Our Active Update service allows you to compare your current version of Food Smart against the latest update we have placed on our official Active Update server, in order to ensure that you are using the very latest update we have made available.

Since you initiate the verification process, you may choose to verify your software as frequently as you wish (we suggest on a weekly basis, just to be sure), and whatever time of day best suits your schedule, since the official Active Update server is available via the Internet 24 hours, 7 days a week.


Initiating Active Update
You can initiate the Active Update service at any time while running Food Smart by clicking on the Active Update button shown on the mini-button menu bar shown at the top of the Food Smart desktop window, as shown below:
 

Make sure that your Internet connection has been established before using Active Update, otherwise Food Smart will not be able to connect to the Active Update service properly.

  If you are using Food Smart while connected to a corporate network, you should discuss the use
      of our Active Update service with your network administrator.  They can help trouble-shoot
      connection issues and/or contact us for further technical support.

Downloading Patches

Many corporate users cannot access our Active Update server due to Internet firewall restrictions currently enforced on their corporate networks.

For those users who need to download our patches directly, please select one of the following links:

  You need to install the following files into your Food Smart 6.0 folder, such as the following:

      C:\Program Files\Food Smart\Food Smart 6.0

      Food Smart 6.0.13 Active Update Refresh (140 KB)
 

      Food Smart 6.0.13 Patch (2.5 MB)

 

  Canadian users who cannot immediately download the 6.0.13 patch should install the following files
      into your Food Smart 6.0 XML folder, such as the following:

      C:\Program Files\Food Smart\Food Smart 6.0\XML

      Food Smart 6.0 CDN Food Item Update (5 MB)

      Food Smart 6.0 CDN Food Units Update (1 MB)

 

  You need to install the following files into your Food Smart 6.0 Multi-User server folder, such as the
      following:

      C:\Program Files\Food Smart\Food Smart 6.0 Multi-User Server
 

      Food Smart 6.5.0 Multi-User Sever Patch (350 KB)

 

  You need to install the following file into your Food Smart 5.0 folder, such as the following:

      C:\Food Smart 5
 

      Food Smart 5.0.19 Patch (4.5 MB)
